“The Body Achieves What The Mind Believes” – Anonymous
It’s time that I take keeping fit out of my head, put one foot in front of the other and get running again. In order to ensure that I maintain this activity, I’ve decided to chronicle each session.
This way I will have something to look back on and see how much I’ve progressed. I’ve restarted the Couch to 5K training again.
As it was almost a year ago sinceI last attempted it, I was very anxious about getting back into it again. I felt good about my progress then and was looking forward to completing it, but only made it to the penultimate session. Illness halted the last one, I was sorely disappointed; and I stopped running.
Last Autumn I enrolled again, but backed out as ‘I don’t run when it’s cold!’; I’m a fair-weather outdoor person.
However, I know how important it is to keep active.
When you’re retired it’s so easy to find yourself becoming lazy, sluggish and unhealthy. It’s downhill health-wise after that. I shall be posting weekly updates on my progress.
So, keep your eyes peeled and I look froward to your comments too. Time for some refreshing tea.

No time like the present, for a refreshing cup o f tea. I find it’s wonderful directly after a power walk or run.
Thank you for sharing and I look forward to further updates about your progress with the couch to 5K challenge.
Thank you Gay, your response is very encouraging. I also look forward to your response from my updates too.
I’m definitely a fair-weather-outdoors type too and I’m quite happy with that. I try to do squats with kettlebells at least twice a week to keep my muscles toned.
I’m not much of a runner so I admire you SO MUCH for doing the whole running thing. I’ll be watching your progress with interest.
This is so true: “…I know how important it is to keep active. When you’re retired it’s so easy to find yourself becoming lazy, sluggish and unhealthy. It’s downhill health-wise after that.” It’s such a good idea to prepare for healthy longevity.
Thank you Xina,
Your comments are very encouraging. At the moment I’m sitting here watching the rain, psyching up myself to go for my ‘homework’ run, and encouraging my ‘fair weather self’ to embrace the rain.
